Petite Studio Flat in London Caters For Space Saving Interior Design
This small studio flat located in London received a full reconfiguration with a space saving interior task included by Black & Milk Studio.
“This apartment was very petite and hadn’t been touched for thirty years, it was a wreck,” the client explained. “Living in a small flat is the norm for many people in my home country of Russia, so I know exactly how to maximize space,” she added.
The flat is situated on the top floor in a block that has a quiet courtyard. The issue was that there was no road access to help carry the materials needed.
The layout of this petite but fancy apartment was created in collaboration with a professional in the creative and media industries.
The challenges showed up as the entire space only measured 25 square meters, with a separate bathroom. Moreover, the small space was also cramped with internal partitions. The small kitchen appeared to be as problematic as the rest of the flat because of its unusable configuration that occupied too much space.
The architects removed a large number of partitions, and they achieved a rectangular shape which immediately created that sense of space everybody wished for. The living and sleeping area received a big improvement and multifunctional uses.
The finishings of this small flat are truly astonishing. It perfectly fits the lifestyle of a professional including working, entertaining and relaxing.
“With such a tiny studio it was important to create maximum space and functionality”, the client added.
Regarding the bathroom, it received a more homey look by installing a diamond shaped shower enclosure. The client says that “this shape worked extremely well because it was far less obtrusive and had a minimal look which is exactly what this room needed.”
The flat receives lots of natural light due to the position on the top floor. The pale color scheme enhances the space and maximizes the open feeling. The color accents come from the floor rug and the sofa cushions.
Great storage space was solved by including a large wardrobe with plenty of drawers space.
This Central London apartment received a new life and perfectly fits the lifestyle of an active, professional women that enjoys a cozy home.
